For all faculty positions, IIT Kanpur requires a PhD with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch, together with a very good academic record in preceding degrees.

10 years teaching/research/industrial experience, including at least 4 years at Associate Professor level.
Associate Professor
6 years teaching/research/industrial experience, including at least 3 years at Assistant Professor level or equivalent.
Assistant Professor · Fresh PhD
Appointment can be on contract for the first 3 years and may be regularised subsequently.
Assistant Professor · 3+ Years Post-PhD
