General Eligibility

The general qualification is a PhD with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree and an excellent academic record throughout. Experience Requirements by Faculty Rank

Assistant Professor Grade I

A minimum of three years of post-PhD teaching, research or professional experience is required, excluding experience gained while pursuing the PhD. Applicants should demonstrate research capability through publications in reputable journals and conferences.

Assistant Professor Grade II

Candidates who satisfy the Grade I criteria except for the required post-PhD experience may be appointed as Assistant Professor Grade II. After meeting the Grade I experience requirement, they may move to Grade I in accordance with IIT Bombay’s rules.

Associate Professor

A minimum of six years of post-PhD teaching, research or professional experience is required, including at least three years at Assistant Professor Grade I level or an equivalent level in institutions or industries of comparable standing. The advertisement also expects a strong publication record and PhD supervision.

Professor

A minimum of ten years of post-PhD teaching, research or professional experience is required, including at least four years at Associate Professor level or an equivalent level. Candidates should demonstrate research leadership, an excellent publication record and successful PhD supervision.
