Specialisation fit matters
Several science posts are also tightly defined. The Physics notification lists areas including low-dimensional, quantum and topological systems, active and soft matter, cosmology, theoretical astrophysics, statistical physics and multiscale modelling. Chemistry has different research and teaching requirements for each advertised rank. Computer and Information Sciences, by contrast, states that its two posts cover all areas of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Applicants should therefore compare their degree, research record and teaching profile with the exact specialisation attached to the individual vacancy.
03 Who Is Actually Eligible?
Eligibility is not identical across all 37 positions. Most disciplines follow the University’s stated UGC 2018 framework, while several professional or specialised fields use separate regulatory criteria.
Professor
For the general UGC disciplines, the principal academic route requires a PhD in the relevant or allied discipline, a strong publication record, at least ten research publications, a research score of 120, and at least ten years of qualifying teaching/research experience with evidence of successful doctoral guidance.
Associate Professor
The general route requires a good academic record, relevant PhD, Master’s degree with at least 55%, at least eight years of qualifying teaching/research experience, at least seven research publications and a research score of 75.
Assistant Professor
For the general UGC disciplines, the notification uses the Master’s degree plus NET/SLET/SET framework, together with the specified PhD-based exemptions. It also provides a separate route for qualifying PhDs from certain top-500 foreign universities.
Posts with separate qualification frameworks
Computer and Information Sciences, Medical Sciences, Education and Education Technology, Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Management Studies have dedicated qualification provisions in the advertisement.
For example, the Computer and Information Sciences Assistant Professor post uses AICTE-linked degree combinations rather than simply repeating the generic Master’s + NET formulation. Management Studies permits specified management qualifications and professional routes. Fine Arts and Theatre Arts also include professional-artist pathways under stated conditions.
04 Academic Pay Levels and Application Fee
The University specifies the following 7th CPC Academic Pay Matrix levels. These are pay-matrix ranges, not estimates of total monthly take-home salary.
| Position | Academic Level | Pay Matrix |
|---|---|---|
| Professor | Level 14 | ₹1,44,200 – ₹2,18,200 |
| Associate Professor | Level 13A | ₹1,31,400 – ₹2,17,100 |
| Assistant Professor | Level 10 | ₹57,700 – ₹1,82,400 |
Registration fee
₹1,000
The advertisement lists a non-refundable registration fee of ₹1,000 for OBC, EWS, UR and Transgender applicants.
No registration fee
The advertisement states that SC, ST and PwBD candidates do not pay the registration fee.
Applicants whose circumstances are not clearly covered by the fee table should verify the applicable category in the official portal before payment.
05 How to Apply for University of Hyderabad Faculty Recruitment 2026
The candidate is responsible for both stages: submitting the online application and ensuring that the signed hard copy reaches the University within the prescribed period.
- Identify the exact vacancy. Match the post, subject, reservation category and advertised specialisation.
- Read the complete 23-page advertisement. Do this before creating the final application because qualification rules vary by discipline.
- Register on CUREC Samarth. Complete the registration and confirm the account through the registered email address.
- Complete the profile and position-specific application. Enter educational qualifications, employment history, research output and other required information accurately.
- Attach supporting evidence and pay the applicable fee. Claims without documentary support may not be counted.
- Submit online by 12 October 2026 at 5:30 p.m. Save the final submitted application and payment confirmation.
- Print, sign and organise the hard-copy application. Serially number supporting documents and arrange them according to the University’s instructions.
- Send the hard copy by post or courier. It must reach the University on or before 16 October 2026. Do not attempt personal delivery, because the notification says hard copies will not be accepted in person.

06 Documents, Publications and Selection Rules
Documents that deserve particular attention
The application should be built around verifiable evidence rather than CV statements alone. In addition to educational certificates, candidates should prepare experience/service certificates, appropriate pay certificates or pay slips, reservation certificates where relevant, publication evidence and all documents supporting research-score claims.
In-service candidates must have the application forwarded through the proper channel or provide the required No Objection Certificate. The advertisement advises such applicants to initiate the NOC process well before the deadline.
Publication evidence is a screening issue
Publication assessment also depends on publication date. Most notably, for publications from 27 June 2025 onward, the advertisement lists Scopus or Web of Science as the applicable publication databases. Earlier publication periods use the historical reference framework specified in the notification. Applicants should therefore check page 5 of the advertisement before calculating their publication record.
How shortlisting and selection work
Meeting minimum eligibility does not create a right to interview. The University may restrict the number of candidates by applying qualifications or experience standards above the minimum. Shortlisted candidates are to receive interview communication by email, while shortlist information is also placed on the University website.
The general instructions refer to the candidate’s previous record and interview performance and allow the University to use a seminar, colloquium, demonstration class or another appropriate method. For the general UGC Assistant Professor framework, the notification separately states that the academic score is used for shortlisting and not as the final selection score.
07 CareerAidHub’s Practical Interpretation
Am I actually eligible?
Check five things together: academic rank, reservation category, subject, specialisation and qualification framework. Passing only the general UGC test is insufficient if the advertised specialisation does not match your record.
What should I do first?
Download the advertisement and map your qualifications and experience against the exact vacancy before filling CUREC. This avoids building a lengthy application for a post where the specialisation does not fit.
What is the biggest practical risk?
Missing the hard-copy requirement. An applicant can successfully submit online and still have a problem if the signed application and evidence do not reach Hyderabad by 16 October.
What evidence is most vulnerable?
Experience and publications. The University asks for documentary evidence and applies specific publication-quality rules. Do not rely on a CV entry without the corresponding supporting material.
