SCENE: agricultural and related specialisations
Advertisement: IIT Mandi/Fac./Recruit./SCENE/2026/01, dated 16 October 2026.
- Assistant Professor: tractor and power engineering; plant disease or plant pathology; post-harvesting technologies and food processing; bio-energy engineering.
- Professor: high-altitude horticulture.
Both ranks require an appropriate PhD, first class in the preceding degree and a very good academic record.
Professor applicants need at least ten years of teaching, research or industrial experience, including four at Associate Professor or comparable level. The notice also requires evidence of independent research. Its experience clause does not explicitly label the entire ten years as post-PhD.
Fresh PhDs may apply for Assistant Professor. Starting basic pay is ₹84,700–₹1,01,500, depending on relevant post-PhD experience. Professor starts at ₹1,59,100, Level 14A, Cell 1.

IKSMHA: Associate Professor

The advertised areas are contemplative psychology, first-person research methods and consciousness studies.
Applicants need an appropriate PhD, first class in the preceding degree and a very good academic record. The experience threshold is six years after the PhD, including three at Assistant Professor level or an accepted equivalent senior scientific, design, research or industry position, assessed at application.
The notice seeks evidence of independent research, supervision and scholarly or professional contributions. Starting basic pay is ₹1,39,600 at Level 13A2, Cell 1.

SCEE: rolling Assistant Professor recruitment
Advertisement: IIT Mandi/Fac./Recruit./Standing/SCEE/2026/01.
The notice covers CSE areas including AI, machine learning, data science, computer vision, robotics, cybersecurity, theory, algorithms, systems, networks, databases, embedded systems, high-performance computing and software engineering.
Applicants need a relevant PhD, first class in the preceding degree and a very good academic record. CSE applicants must hold BTech, MTech and PhD degrees in computer science or closely related CSE domains.
Fresh PhDs may apply. Grade I/II starting basic pay ranges from ₹84,700 to ₹1,01,500 according to relevant post-PhD experience. The notice specifies four processing cut-offs: 31 March, 30 June, 31 August and 31 December.
Application advice: Select a clear research direction. Describe the problems you can investigate and the courses you can teach, rather than listing every broad computing topic.

Eligibility does not guarantee an interview. IIT Mandi may set higher shortlisting standards. The notices require applicants in government, public-sector, university and educational employment to use the proper channel or provide an employer NOC at interview.

Frequently asked questions
Is IIT Mandi recruiting senior faculty now?
Yes. The current October listings include a Professor route in SCENE and an Associate Professor route in IKSMHA. These are separate from the expired July call.

The SCENE and IKSMHA calls close on 6 November 2026. The listed SCEE cycle ends on 31 December 2026. No closing hour is confirmed here.

Can a fresh PhD apply?
The Assistant Professor notices allow fresh PhD applicants, subject to their qualification and discipline requirements.
Is the Assistant Professor age limit absolute?
The notices say applicants should preferably be below 35. That wording is a preference; consult IIT Mandi if your circumstances need clarification.
Do I need to send a printed form?

Are the salary figures take-home pay?
