PEC Chandigarh Faculty Recruitment 2026 at a Glance

Eligibility Criteria

Assistant Professor — Engineering / Design

• PhD in the relevant field.
• First class or equivalent at both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree level in the appropriate branch specified by PEC.

Assistant Professor — Sciences, Humanities and Arts

• PhD in the relevant field.
• First class or equivalent at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level in the appropriate discipline.
• NET/SLET/SET qualification, unless the candidate qualifies for the specific PhD-based exemption described in the brochure.

For the stated exemption, candidates registered for the PhD before 11 July 2009 must satisfy all of PEC’s listed conditions, including regular-mode PhD award, evaluation by at least two external examiners, open viva, required research papers and qualifying conference/seminar presentations, with certification from the relevant university authority.

Associate Professor

• PhD in the relevant field.
• First class or equivalent at Bachelor’s and Master’s level in the relevant branch.
• Minimum 8 years of teaching and/or research experience in a position equivalent to Assistant Professor.
• Minimum 7 publications in SCIE/SSCI/AHCI/ABDC-indexed journals.
• Minimum research score of 75 under PEC’s Table-IV scoring system.

Professor

• PhD in the relevant field.
• First class or equivalent at Bachelor’s and Master’s level in the relevant branch.
• Minimum 10 years of teaching and/or research experience at the prescribed equivalent level.
• Evidence of successful guidance of doctoral candidates.
• Minimum 10 research publications in SCIE/SSCI/AHCI/ABDC-indexed journals.
• Minimum research score of 120 under PEC’s Table-IV criteria.

Salary and Employment Conditions

PEC also states the following employment conditions:

• House Rent Allowance is admissible at applicable rates.
• Campus accommodation is not provided under this contractual appointment.
• No annual increment is allowed during the contract period.
• No other allowances are admissible beyond those specifically stated.
• Salary remains subject to TDS and other statutory deductions.
• New Pension Scheme applicability is limited to appointees who already have a PRAN.
• Appointment is subject to medical fitness.

Professional Development and Research Support

The rolling contractual package includes several research-development provisions:

• Professional Development Allowance: up to ₹1 lakh per year on a pro-rata basis during the three-year contract, for attending academic events within India.
• Seed money: up to ₹10 lakh for laboratory development, based on a proposal submitted after joining jointly with a regular faculty member of the department.
• Contingency grant: ₹2 lakh over the complete contract period for items required for professional development.

Shortlisting and Selection Process

Applications are first scrutinised using the academic/research scores claimed in the prescribed summary sheet and supported by documentary evidence.

• No score is awarded for a parameter without supporting documentation.
• The verified score may be lower than the score claimed by the applicant, but it cannot exceed the claimed score.
• PEC states that a maximum of 15 candidates may be called for interview against one post, with 5 additional candidates for each additional post under the relevant category.
• Shortlisted candidates undergo a seminar/sample teaching session and interview.
• Mere fulfilment of minimum qualifications does not create an entitlement to be shortlisted or interviewed.

For Assistant Professor, the brochure expressly states that the academic score is used for shortlisting and that final selection is based on performance in the selection process.

How to Apply

1. Use the prescribed PEC application form

Candidates must use the application proforma supplied with the rolling recruitment brochure. PEC requires a typed application with complete and correct information.

2. Submit separate applications where necessary

If applying for more than one post or department, submit a separate application and document set for each post/department.

3. Attach self-attested evidence

Every academic, experience, publication and research-score claim used for eligibility or shortlisting should be supported by the relevant self-attested documentary evidence. PEC states that additional documents will not be accepted after submission.
