ARCI Recruitment 2026: 29 Staff Posts & Science Communicator Vacancy

About the recruitment

The International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI) is an autonomous R&D centre under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

ARCI/HRD/RECT/1/2026 covers scientific, technical, administrative and support staff. Indian citizens may apply, subject to post-specific eligibility. Officer B is a deputation vacancy; the other five post groups use direct recruitment.

Staff vacancies, age limits and pay

The advertised gross estimates include basic pay and applicable allowances; they are not take-home salaries. Age is assessed on the closing date, with relaxation subject to the notice’s category and service rules.

Five Assistant A posts are for Hyderabad and one for the Gurugram office. Two posts across Technical Assistant A, Assistant A and Technician A are earmarked for suitable PwD/Divyangjan candidates in the stated OH/HH/VH categories. These are within the advertised totals.

Qualifications and experience

Scientist B: materials or mechanical engineering

A recognised engineering or technology bachelor’s degree is required in the listed materials, metallurgical or mechanical disciplines. Materials/metallurgy and mechanical engineering each have two vacancies: one UR and one OBC-NCL.

A relevant master’s degree and one year of R&D experience are desirable. Work may involve energy materials and systems, surface engineering, ceramics, carbon materials or powder metallurgy.

Officer B: finance and accounts on deputation

Applicants need a recognised bachelor’s degree, the stipulated finance and accounts experience, and eligibility through their existing government, university, research or other qualifying organisation. The service route is an analogous post, five years of regular service at Level 7/8, or eight years at Level 6 or equivalent, subject to the complete conditions.

The role requires supervisory experience and familiarity with government finance, procurement, taxation and digital financial systems. Deputation normally does not exceed three years.

Technical Assistant A

The qualification is BSc Physical Sciences with Chemistry, or a three-year full-time diploma in the specified metallurgy, mechanical or electrical branch, or the stated equivalent. The discipline split is metallurgy 3, mechanical 2, electrical 1 and chemistry 1.

Higher-qualification exclusion: applicants holding MSc, BTech, BE, MTech, ME, MS or PhD in any discipline at the eligibility date will not be considered for this entry post.

Assistant A

A bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience in the specified administrative, finance, HR, purchase, secretariat or liaison functions are required. Applicants must also have the stated MS Office, e-Office and ERP knowledge.

Technician A

Applicants need 10th/SSC, a two-year full-time ITI in Fitter, Turner or Electrician, and three years of relevant technical experience. The trade split is Fitter 6, Turner 1 and Electrician 2.

Higher-qualification exclusion: the notice excludes diploma, BSc/equivalent and the listed postgraduate or engineering qualifications. It also specifies acceptable experience evidence and excludes part-time experience.

Driver A

Applicants need 10th/SSC or equivalent, valid light- and heavy-vehicle licences, motor-mechanism knowledge and vehicle-record skills. Required experience is at least three years for light vehicles and six years for heavy vehicles, after obtaining the relevant licences.

Ex-servicemen receive preference. Read the employer and supporting-record requirements for experience certificates.

Science Communicator & Designer: separate contract call

This one-post engagement closes on 3 November 2026. The initial contract is one year, with annual extensions possible up to three years, subject to performance and organisational need.

Consolidated remuneration is ₹50,000–70,000 per month, based on qualifications, experience and suitability. The stated upper age is 40 on the closing date, subject to applicable relaxation.

Eligible degree routes include the listed communication or media master’s degrees; physical, chemical or materials-science master’s degrees; or relevant engineering qualifications. All applicants must demonstrate science communication ability, English proficiency, digital-tool skills and a relevant portfolio.

Send a detailed CV, a Statement of Purpose of no more than two pages, and portfolio/work samples by email to rectt@arci.res.in. The SOP is mandatory; applications without relevant work samples may not be shortlisted.

Two years of professional experience is desirable. Work includes research stories, publications, visual and multimedia content, digital channels and outreach.

2. Read the detailed advertisement, general terms, online instructions and post-specific examination model.
3. Pay the applicable fee using the official payment instructions. Enter the transaction details and upload the receipt.
4. Upload the required qualifications, experience evidence, photograph, signature, ID and applicable category or employer documents.
5. Review and finally submit the online form. Save a copy for your records.

Fees are non-refundable and apply per post. The notice says reserved-category candidates applying against unreserved posts must pay the full fee. Check this condition against your application rather than assuming an exemption.

Officer B exception: ensure the complete application, employer certificate and required records are forwarded through proper channel to the Senior Administrative and Personnel Officer, ARCI, RCI-New Airport Road, Balapur Post, Hyderabad – 500005, before the closing date.

Ordinary direct-recruitment applicants need not initially post a printed form. Serving applicants must also follow the NOC, vigilance-clearance and proper-channel provisions in the general terms.

Selection

Scientist B uses a computer-based competitive written examination followed by interview. Technical Assistant A and Technician A use written examination followed by trade/skill testing. Assistant A uses written examination and a skill test; Driver A uses written examination and skill/driving tests. Officer B selection is by interview after shortlisting.
