DU Faculty Recruitment 2026 at a Glance

The University of Delhi has issued separate advertisements for Associate Professor and Professor appointments in university departments. Advertisement No. R&P/321/2026 covers Associate Professors, while Advertisement No. R&P/322/2026 covers Professors.

Current DU Professor and Associate Professor Vacancies

The revised University vacancy matrices list 74 positions across nine departments. Philosophy has the largest allocation with 20 posts, followed by Chemistry and Zoology with 10 posts each.

Category-wise reservation is provided separately in the official vacancy documents. The Associate Professor vacancy matrix also identifies three PwBD-designated positions: one VI position in Hindi and one LD plus one VI position in Philosophy.

Eligibility for Associate Professor and Professor

Associate Professor — R&P/321/2026

For the disciplines covered by the current advertisement, applicants must have a good academic record with a PhD in the concerned, allied or relevant discipline and a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade.

Applicants must also have at least eight years of eligible teaching and/or research experience at a level equivalent to Assistant Professor, a minimum of seven qualifying research publications, and a total research score of at least 75 under DU’s screening framework.

Professor — R&P/322/2026

Under the principal academic route, applicants require a PhD in the concerned, allied or relevant discipline, at least ten qualifying research publications, a total research score of at least 120, and at least ten years of eligible teaching and/or research experience. The applicant must also demonstrate successful guidance of a doctoral candidate.

The Professor advertisement separately provides an eligibility route for an outstanding professional from academia or industry who holds a relevant PhD, has made a documented significant contribution to the field and has at least ten years of experience.

Publication rule applicants should check carefully

The current DU advertisements state that UGC-CARE-list or Scopus-indexed publications are considered under the specified publication requirements. DU further states that publications from the former UGC-CARE list are considered only when published before the date on which UGC discontinued that list, as specified in the current notification.

Applicants should therefore verify each publication against the exact current screening rules before claiming research-score credit.

Pay Levels

The University states that the advertised positions carry the applicable UGC pay scales together with admissible allowances. Applicants should distinguish the official academic pay level from estimated take-home salary, which depends on applicable allowances and deductions.

DU Faculty Application Fee

The current general instructions specify the following fee structure for both Professor and Associate Professor applications.

Payment must be made online. Applicants submitting applications for more than one post or department must submit separate applications and pay the applicable fee separately.

Screening, Presentation and Selection

Meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not automatically guarantee an interview. DU screens applications using the research-score and shortlisting framework attached to each advertisement.

For Associate Professor, the minimum research score is 75. For Professor, it is 120. DU’s current screening guidelines state that at least 30 candidates may be called for the first vacancy in a category and 10 additional candidates for each additional vacancy, in order of the screening score, subject to the detailed shortlisting provisions.

Shortlisted candidates are also assessed through a presentation. The Presentation Assessment Committee records an indicative grade of A, B, C or D. This presentation assessment is supplied to the Selection Committee but does not bind the Selection Committee’s final decision.

Applicants should retain documentary evidence for every research-score claim, including publications, research projects, patents, doctoral supervision and other activities for which points are claimed.

Documents and Application Evidence

The online application is processed on the basis of the information and documents uploaded by the candidate. Applicants should therefore ensure that all qualification, experience, publication, research-score and reservation claims are supported by the required evidence.

Applicants claiming SC, ST, OBC, EWS or PwBD reservation must upload the appropriate valid certificates. DU states that OBC/EWS certificates should meet the applicable Government of India requirements, including the current-financial-year condition specified in the recruitment instructions.

Shortlisted candidates called for interview must carry original testimonials and certificates, valid photo identification and self-attested copies supporting the qualifications, experience and category information declared in the online application.

Candidates employed in Government, PSUs, Boards or Autonomous Bodies must provide a No Objection Certificate containing the required vigilance clearance at the interview if it was not uploaded earlier.

How to Apply for DU Faculty Recruitment 2026

1. Select the correct advertisement. Use R&P/321/2026 for Associate Professor or R&P/322/2026 for Professor.
2. Check the department and reservation category. Confirm that the vacancy appears in the current revised matrix.
3. Verify eligibility as on the closing date. Check PhD, Master’s qualification where applicable, experience, publications and research-score requirements.
4. Prepare documentary evidence. Organise qualification certificates, experience evidence, publications, category certificates and research-score supporting documents.
5. Register on the DU recruitment portal. Use a valid email address and mobile number and verify entries carefully before registration.
6. Complete the online application. Enter all academic, professional and research information accurately.
7. Upload supporting documents. Ensure that each claim made in the application can be substantiated.
8. Pay the applicable fee online. Submit separate applications and fees when applying to multiple posts or departments.
9. Submit before 26 September 2026. Retain the submitted application and payment record for future screening and interview stages.

Calculate the research score before beginning the form

Associate Professor and Professor applicants should calculate their likely score using the correct DU screening guideline before investing time in the full application. The minimum 75 or 120 score is only the threshold; actual shortlisting depends on the applicant pool and category-wise ranking.

Do not claim publications without verifying indexing eligibility

The current advertisement contains specific conditions regarding UGC-CARE and Scopus-indexed publications. Applicants should maintain evidence of indexing and publication date for each paper used toward eligibility or screening.

Use the revised vacancy matrix
