Rotary Peace Fellowship Certificate 2028–29

Rotary Peace Fellowships support leaders working in peace and development. The professional development certificate route is intended for working professionals who want advanced practical training, field experience and a stronger international peacebuilding network.

Rotary awards up to 120 certificate fellowships annually across its peace-center network, alongside up to 50 master’s fellowships.

Professional Development Certificate Eligibility

Rotary’s published eligibility criteria include:

• proficiency in English;
• a bachelor’s degree;
• at least five years of relevant full-time work experience in peace or development;
• a strong record of commitment to peace and cross-cultural understanding;
• demonstrated leadership ability; and
• the ability to explain how the applicant’s peacebuilding plan aligns with Rotary’s mission.

Certificate centres may also apply regional eligibility requirements. Applicants should therefore review the 2028–29 centre-specific criteria when Rotary releases the new application.

What the Fellowship Covers

Rotary states that Peace Fellowships cover:

• tuition and fees;
• room and board;
• round-trip transportation; and
• internship and field-study expenses.

Applicants should use the 2028–29 application package for any additional centre-specific financial or logistical details.

Programme Structure

Rotary describes the professional development certificate as a one-year blended learning programme for experienced peace and development professionals. Fellows complete field-based learning and develop and implement a social change initiative relevant to their communities or regions.

The programme is designed for professionals who intend to continue applying their expertise after the fellowship rather than for applicants seeking a conventional academic degree.

How to Prepare Before February 2027

1. Document at least five years of relevant full-time peace or development experience.
2. Update your CV with measurable leadership and community-impact outcomes.
3. Clarify the peacebuilding challenge you want to address through a social change initiative.
4. Review the certificate centres and regional eligibility rules once Rotary publishes the 2028–29 cycle.
5. Identify strong referees who can speak to your leadership, professional impact and commitment to peace.
6. Return to Rotary’s official application page in February 2027.
