Hiroshima University created the Global Doctoral Fellowship to support outstanding international students entering its doctoral programmes.

Selected fellows are employed as researchers and receive both salary support and research funding while undertaking doctoral study at Hiroshima University.

Who Was Eligible for the October 2026 Call?

The most recent call targeted international students who planned to enroll in a Hiroshima University doctoral programme in October 2026.

• Applicants could come from any research field.

As of 20 September 2026, Hiroshima University’s Global Doctoral Fellowship page states that there are no current open calls.

The University has also indicated that future research-support arrangements from FY2027 may depend partly on the outcome of its application for additional JST support. Applicants should therefore wait for a new official fellowship announcement rather than assume that a previous deadline or funding structure will automatically repeat.
