Current 2026–27 Application Status

The AICTE Industry Fellowship Programme 2026–27 faculty application period is closed. The original scheme document gave 25 June 2026 as the faculty deadline, but AICTE subsequently announced an extension to 5 July 2026. The latter is the final published extended deadline for this cycle; it has passed. No subsequent nationwide faculty application round has been verified.

Objectives and Industry Research Areas

AICTE designed the scheme to strengthen faculty competence through practical immersion in industrial R&D, engineering systems, manufacturing processes and technology deployment. The approved areas span advanced materials, critical minerals, semiconductors, space and defence, sustainability, computing and quantum technologies, next-generation communications, mobility, agriculture, health technology, disaster resilience, Industry 4.0 and core engineering branches.

A participating faculty member should be able to transfer learning into curriculum development, student employability initiatives, applied research, consultancy or long-term academia–industry collaboration.

Faculty Eligibility for 2026–27

• Be a regular faculty member at an AICTE-approved institution or university. Contractual, temporary, visiting, ad-hoc and part-time faculty are excluded in the published scheme.
• Have a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience at an AICTE-approved institution. Doctoral, postdoctoral research and deputation time are excluded from the experience calculation.
• Be no older than 50 years on 26 May 2026.
• Obtain nomination and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the parent institution.
• Satisfy at least one of the scheme’s academic/research benchmarks, listed below.

Meeting an alternative benchmark does not dispense with the regular-faculty, experience, age or nomination conditions. Applicants should check the current scheme and any official clarifications before a future call.

Eligibility for Host Industry Partners

The 2026–27 scheme specifies that a host industry must have an Indian registered office, at least five years’ existence and an average turnover of at least ₹100 crore over the previous three years. Eligible enterprise forms include companies, PSUs, proprietorships and partnerships, with listed companies and international operations also addressed in the industry section.

Industry partners identify the technical areas and placements they can offer. AICTE screens faculty eligibility, and participating industries make selections based on project and expertise fit.

Monthly Fellowship, Salary and Duration

The stipend and salary components must be understood separately. Applicants should seek written clarity on leave category, pay protection, benefits and repayment conditions before accepting placement.

Leave, Service Bond and Obligations

Selected fellows participate full-time at the industry site and may be required to sign industry confidentiality and intellectual-property agreements. The official 2026–27 scheme includes an undertaking to serve the parent institution for a minimum of three consecutive years after returning, subject to the conditions described in the scheme.

AICTE’s 4 June 2026 clarification addresses treatment of fellowship time as permitted leave, service benefits and applicability of a bond based on the parent’s leave arrangements. It states that for study/sabbatical leave, the bond or undertaking amount shall not exceed ₹5 lakh for three years. The clarification should be read together with the current institutional rules; do not assume unconditional continued salary under every leave arrangement.

Documents and Institutional Approvals

• Updated faculty CV including qualification and employment history.
• Proof of five years of eligible full-time teaching service, and age documentation.
• Parent institution nomination and NOC in the prescribed format.
• Proof of one qualifying benchmark: examination results, indexed publications, funded-project completion or eligible awards.
• Proposed expertise and preferred industry research domains or placements.
• Any portal-specified identity, faculty ID, affidavit, service bond and HR approvals at the appropriate stage.

How the 2026–27 Application Worked

1. The institution identified and nominated a regular eligible faculty member and issued an NOC.
2. The applicant used AICTE’s official Industry Fellowship Programme faculty-registration portal during the application period.
3. The applicant completed academic, employment and research-qualification details and supplied requested evidence.
4. AICTE screened eligibility and shared qualifying candidates with participating industry partners.
5. Industry partners reviewed the profiles and selected faculty for suitable host projects.
6. Successful candidates completed institutional/industry clearances and commenced the fellowship under the assigned schedule.

This 2026–27 application window is closed. These steps are included for future planning, not as an active application invitation.

Evaluation, Industry Selection and Completion

Selection is not based solely on having five indexed papers or holding a doctoral degree. AICTE screens minimum eligibility, while industry partners evaluate applicants against technical areas and host needs. During the placement, the industry conducts periodic performance assessments and submits reports. The scheme contemplates an experience certificate after successful completion, describing skills and relevant work.

Applicants can strengthen their profiles by demonstrating verified research outcomes, applied engineering/technology expertise and a realistic knowledge-transfer plan for their parent institution.

Future Calls and Monitoring

As of 10 October 2026, the extended 5 July 2026 faculty deadline has passed. The official portal’s static 25 June schedule is not evidence that applications remain open. The next call date has not been verified. Monitor the official AICTE IFP portal and new circulars for any 2027 deadline, eligibility amendments or new industry-host requirements.
